Studies confirm that hearing aids play a crucial role in professional development

Hearing aids increase the chances of landing your dream job, getting a promotion, and earning a higher salary—according to most hearing aid users. Several studies show that people with hearing loss also attribute their professional success to their hearing aids.

Meetings with colleagues, presentations to clients, conference calls with project partners—the modern workplace relies heavily on communication. Hearing plays a central role in this. When it no longer functions properly, misunderstandings and setbacks can occur, which may ultimately lead to withdrawal from the workforce. That is why it is important for employees to detect potential hearing loss early and seek treatment. Hearing aids also improve quality of life and protect against a variety of health consequences that untreated hearing loss can cause.

The “Eurotrak” study surveyed hearing aid users about how they assess the impact of their hearing aids on their daily work lives: Nine out of ten consider their hearing aids useful for their work, and two-thirds even say they play a crucial role in the workplace. They also believe that wearing hearing aids improves their chances for career advancement. Hearing aid users even assume that, thanks to their small devices, they earn more and that their hearing aids are what make it possible for them to work in their dream jobs.

The organization “Hear-it AISBL” also confirms that people with hearing loss who use hearing aids remain in the workforce longer and are less likely to work part-time than those with untreated hearing loss. The reason is that they experience less fatigue and are therefore less likely to have to retire early or work part-time.

Living Life to the Fullest with Both Ears

With a few simple tips, you can make your daily work routine much easier even with hearing loss:

  • Avoid unnecessary sources of noise, such as radios or fans
  • Dampen sound with carpets or curtains
  • Keep all participants in view during meetings
  • Set a personalized ringtone on your phone

Thanks to the hearing aid in their ear, people with hearing loss can remain productive longer—which, according to a study by the World Health Organization (WHO), also has financial implications for the economy.
